Anyone use bifocal shooting glasses? I'm hoping the decision is in 22 and not I believe the impact will be immediate either on our part or theirs but it will be immediate. The important thing is that WE are ready to act. Hoe do we prepare ourselves: 1. Think like your enemy and what actions they may try think outside the box they are well funded and slimey.
I have a article for the the website planned for later this week about them as a matter of fact. I was a little surprised when I came here to approve comments while on lunch and saw your emails address. LMT makes good kit but no matter how well machined swapping out a barrel means checking zero each time. Given the price it makes financial sense too. The continuous top rail however has some value added.
I think it was on here recently a discussion about the Mk12 Mod 0 and Mod 1. I am sold on the colt series monolithic uppers. I love them and own several but the monolithic upper is not suitable to general issue to an Army in my opinion I completely agree with the barrel swap stuff. I found that dubious from the start. I think you nailed it early on. Locking someone into the monolithic removes the ability to tinker, especially if it also meant a propriety barrel system.

I got it for a few reasons: - First and foremost, it was on sale. The price for it was basically the same as a good upper receiver plus a Daniel Defense 12" Lite rail. If the price was the same, probably. Did I really need it? WTH does need have to do with much of anything? Yes, I get the arguments about not need 4 full length rails. On the other hand, I put the ladder type rail protectors on and I actually find it quite comfortable.

A solution looking for a problem.
I can't imagine myself buying one. Just out of curiosity, why are you buying one? There's plenty of room on just the receiver rail for an optic, BUIS, and magnifier. No need to cross the gap, certainly no need to spend the money for a monolithic upper just to solve a perceived gap problem. I don't see anything in your second post that makes a compelling argument for a 12 inch piston gun. I think you'd be far better off getting a good, basic rifle and learn the platform.
You can work on the fancy stuff for your second rifle. I have two They run fine. They run so well that your statement about piston SBRs running better makes me scratch my head.
You're aware that it will be 6 months before you can put your hands on that rifle? Get a basic weapon first that you can stuff on to figure out what works for you, and what doesn't. Except the weight. It is a To each their own.
The nice thing about a MRP upper is you can change a barrel out with the proper tools, which aren't hard to find and get, and run something different without going through the big grief of getting a whole new upper.
