There is always something new to learn and someone to take the time to truly teach you. Pros Leadership, benefits.

Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No. Company pays for licenses, and it was a great place to learn and grow. Requires a tremendous amount of drive and time management skills to be successful. Requires a lot of outreach that makes many uncomfortable in order to make sales.

Good people though and my office really wanted me to succeed. Ultimately the lack of salary just did me in unfortunately. Pros Autonomy and freedom.

Cons Commission only , lots of prospecting. This company offers leadership opportunity for the right person as soon as six months after start date.

This company values culture! You get to have a major impact on the lives of your clients but you do have to face a lot of rejection. For those who are wired for sales, this is an amazing career.

NM is the best company in the industry to align with for a financial planning career. Pros Culture, Opportunity, Training, Benefits.

Cons Rejection from potential clients. Rate your recent company Share your experience to help others. Great place to work but siloed and disjointed in ways typical to a large, long-standing company Engineering Manager Current Employee - Milwaukee, WI - October 24, Great campus, good benefits, slightly above average pay, your experience may vary wildly depending on team and area.

The software development experience depends on what team you are on. Some are doing very modern and interesting development practices, others are stuck with legacy technology under outdated practices. Management overall is aware of this and slowly trying to raise everyone up to the same standards.

However, communication across teams and the company overall can be poor with competing priorities and large gaps of knowledge between adjacent teams. Many problems have existed for years or even decades and no one seems motivated to address them, making it worse and even harder to resolve as time goes on. Pros Great people, good benefits, supportive, opportunities for modern development tech and practices.

Cons Average pay not as competitive in current market, lack of prioritization, limited advancement opportunities for mid to senior level employees, management and job satisfaction depends on team, mixed messaging from senior and top level management, communication issues across company. Its just one lie after another.

Raises are decided by doing things outside of your job title and your own job has nothing to do with it. A typical day of work included being kept in the dark about all happenings going on. If you follow the advice and training they give you can become successful. I enjoy the company however they have a lack of training and resources available to help you. I felt like there was a lot of room for growth and improvement during the first three months of this position. I learned a lot of great skills revolving around financial planning and sales.

However, due to Covid, my growth became stagnant since we are not in the office. The number of resources available is few and far between, and the more experienced advisors are busy with their own work.

The firm believes in their products and believe that our financial advisors are bringing values to the client's financial security. Northwestern Mutual is a great company to work for, with its thriving morale and friendly competition to drive productivity. If you are searching to work in a fast-paced environment and professional growth, Northwestern Mutual is the place to begin.

I recommend this job for young and middle age career goal minded people. The people are making an impact at all levels with the customer and co-workers. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. However, at the conclusion of my internship, I deemed that I would not pursue a full-time career there.

My co-workers are some of the most genuine people I have ever met and I am so glad that I was able to build strong relationships with most of them. On a professional level, I love working with my clients and helping them achieve their personal and financial goals.

However, for me, working under a salary based job can be very fluctuating; some months are great and some months I am under a great deal of stress. Ratings by category. Search reviews Search. As an intern through NM, I have the opportunity to create my own book of business and learn the sales cycle from top earners at the company. Northwestern has a culture of teamwork and solidarity in the work that they do. I'm encouraged to meet goals and while I was skeptical at first, I have really bought into the company and their impact on clients we serve.

I hope to join full-time after graduation. Pros Flexibility in work days, unlimited earning potential, sponsored certifications, sense of belonging. Cons Fully-comission pay structure, you will have to reach out to family and friends while first starting, if there isn't a belief in the work you are doing, it isnt worth the stress. Great place to grow but be ready to grind. This is an amazing opportunity to work for a fantastic company. The job is not easy at all.

Be ready to exhaust all your connections and dig for more. Mostly happy here - better have a strong network as you will eat what you kill. Offer great training and good technology and platform. Insurance is the best in the industry and investments are an open architecture platform. Northwestern Mutual feels like a home to everyone who comes in, management also does an amazing job of making everyone feel comfortable during their time here.

Pros Leadership, benefits. Cons Not incredibly meaningful work. My time with Northwestern Mutual has been great! Even with Covid they made sure everyone checked in on eachother and had many virtual events to keep everyone engaged and happy!

With selling insurance it's mainly self paced, but they provide the tools and the training to be the best advisor you want to be! Heavy training at first cult like then they forget about you leave you to your own contacts and no base pay not as easy as they make it sound.

Great company but each contractor is independently operated and perks, pay and benefits may be different. While I enjoyed the career aspect of it, I left due to having no benefits package Health Benefits, no sick days, no paid vacation days.
